Character Beliefs

We are almost finished with TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD in English 11. A variety of characters were introduced in the book that carried with them a belief system that helped them cope with their situations. Choose a character and define a belief that was part of that character. Explain from examples in the novel how the character lived their belief. Once again there is an expectation of 5-6 sentences in your paragraph. Please use correct grammar and spelling. Your response is due December 8.

A character from the story that I chose was Tom Robinson. He believed in hard work and being a true gentlemen. He showed this by helping Mayella whenever she needed help, and did not require pay. He had his own job that he worked and was genorous to help Mayella. Tom also showed honesty when he was in the courtroom.

The character that has strong beliefs is Scout. Scout has a mind of her own because she is self-dertermind in everything she does. For example, when Jem tells her to stay home instead of sneaking out with him, she is determind to go with him because she thinks she is brave enough and will not take no for an answer. Also, Scout's tomboy like status helps her cope with these hard times because girls usually wouldn't be able to handle the hard times alone. For example, Scout is attacked at night and Jem tries to help her and does, but gets hurt. Scout says that she wasn't scared during the whole time.

The character has strong beliefs to me is Jem. Throughout the book Jem was always the older one in the family out of the kids. Jem's beliefs where to care for his sister Scout and make shure she didnt get into trouble. He would also help Scout understand what was really going on wiht the trial and describe the meaning for everything for Scout. Atticus could also trust Jem to take care of his sister and getting things done arround the house.

The character I chose with strong beliefs is Scout. Scout is young so her perspective on life is simple and unbiased. Throughout the book she demonstrates the belief that all people ARE created eaqual, and the color of your skin doesn't matter. Therefore she dosn't understand why so many of the white people in her community want Tom Robinson convicted. Another belief of Scout's is that there are only one kind of folks; folks. She is still at the age where she thinks everyone should think the same and have the same values. The reader finds this out in chapters 23-25 when Scout and Jem are discussing the people of Maycomb in Jem's room.

The character that I think had the strongest beliefs was Atticus. He believed in equality and was against forms of predjudice. He followed his beliefs by defending Tom Robinson and trusting his instincts. Although people were upset with him, he paid little attention to it and went about his business. He stood up for what is right even when people were completely against him. This is why Atticus is the character with the strongest beliefs.

The character is chose is Atticus because he believes in doing what is right and to do his best in whatever he is doing. An example of this is when Mr. Ewell spits tobacco in his face and Atticus just wlks away and stays calm. In the courtroom Atticus tries to do his best by convincing the jury that Tom Robinson is innocent.

The character from To Kill a Mockingbird that I chose was Scout. Scout believes that everyone should be able to be who they want to be and that their is only one type of folks: folks. She finds being a lady hard to understand, and sort of a waste of time. Scout has a mind of her own and shes not afraid to use it. Scout is very opinionated and self- determined. She wants to be respected and to be her own person. Scout doesn't like being told what to do, and doesn't like to be excluded from things just becasue she is a girl.

The character with strongest beliefs is Atticus in my opinion. He goes against the entire town just to represent a black man. When people threaten him, he just turns the other way because he knows they won't do anything. He stands up for what he believes, which is equal rights for all.

A character that i thought had strong beliefs was Atticus. Atticus belived that ever one was equal. He showed that he belived this by defending Tom. Even tho most of the white people thought tom was guilty just becase he was black, Atticuse still defended him. Atticuse had his own beliefs and did not think tom was guilty just because he is black.

Atticus was a really strong character throughout the novel. He stayed true to his beliefs; when the community of Maycomb questioned him when defending the black Tom Robinson, althouh he was forced to, he new he needed to do the right thing. Atticus also taught his kids about honesty and loyalty throughout the book, such as the time when Jem's behavior toward Ms. Dubose.

The character from the story that I chose is Scout. One of Scouts beliefs is that there are only one kind of folks, folks. Therefore she has a hard time understanding why the people are making such a big deal out of trying to convict Tom. She also believes that all the people should be created equal. There is no difference between them.

A character in this book with a belief that he really believed in was Jem. Jem believed in justice for all. Although he tried to meet Boo Radley, he still believed that he shouldn't be locked up in a house all alone. When he began to mature, he became more like his father, a lawyer. He believed Tom was innocent even though he was black. He believed that the white jury and Bob Ewell were unfair and unjust in their accusation of an innocent black man.

In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is a character who shows strong beliefs. He gives the most important pieces of advice throughout the story. He says that you can't judge a person until you stand in their shoes. He also advises not to kill a mockingbird, because they have done nothing but give their music. His advice about not killing mockingbirds relates to one of the major themes of the book.

The character that I believe has the strongest beliefs is Scout. Scout is a very determined young girl. A good example was at the beginning of the story when Scout was sticking up for her family when everyone was made at Atticus for deffending Tom. Even though Scout is a tom-boy and some do not like that, I believe that those ways helped her throughout the story also. I also think Scout is a strong beliver in equality. A great example was when her aunt calls Walter white trash and Scout just looks at him and everyone else she knows like real regular people.

A character that I choose from the story is Scout. Scout gets more mature during the story because she finally gets too meet Boo Radley. Which Scout is also a tom-boy. Scout and Jem try really hard too get Boo too come out of his home in the story and then when Jem gets hurt Boo comes too help Scout.

The belief of equality and fairness was valued strongly by Atticus. Atticus supports this belief since he represents Tom Robinson, an African American, in court. He stands up for this black man and ignores the white supremacy of Maybomb. Atticus had his own opinion, one that stood strong against averything.
